AC/DC gearing up for new album in 2012
AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson appeared on an hour-long episode of VH1 Classic's 'That Metal Show' tonight and told interviewer Eddie Trunk that he had met up with Malcolm Young in London a week prior to recording the show* and thought that the Young Brothers were 'gearing up' for a new album next year.
During the interview Brian added that Malcolm had expressed that he was getting 'bored' which is a good signal that the wheels are slowly turning in the right direction - towards that of a new album.
"I honestly think eh Malcolm and Angus are gearing up towards trying to do a new album next year"
"I really hope they do because I think eh, I think it'll be a real fun one ya know, the last one was a real fun one, ya know and eh, I think this, I think this one will as well, and ya know hopefully we can get ya know, get the team together and get out on the road ya know"
Although Brian made no specific mention of a new tour taking place in 2012, it is generally considered that a tour would follow in support of a new album (and Malcolm would hardly consider several weeks secluded away in a studio as being a cure for boredom). It is thought that the new tour, which Angus Young has already said would be "bigger and better" than the previous tour, perhaps would not be as long as the Black Ice tour given the age of the band members. Brian Johnson will be 65 next October making him the oldest member of the band.
When asked how he gets fit for a tour, Brian said that racing helped and that he undertook physical training prior to touring.
Also during the interview Brian managed to get in some wine tasting (Motörhead Shiraz), however, he confessed that he hadn't yet sampled AC/DC's own offering which was released in Australia in August 2011.
During the interview Brian also spoke about his book "Rockers and Rollers a Full Throttle Memoir" as well as taking part in the 24 hours of Daytona for charity whereby his team hopes to raise $1m for families affected by pediatric cancer.
