Mick Wall - who is writing the big "fuck-off" biography about AC/DC - believes that we could be seeing the end of the Great Rock ‘n’ Roll Dynasty:

Seriously, what will happen when the true giants of rock finally go? And let’s not kid ourselves, they will be gone very soon (Lemmy is 66 this year; Ozzy and Alice are both 63; Brian Johnson 64; David Coverdale 60; even Iron Maiden are in their mid-50s). I give them all five years at the most, 10 in the case of Maiden and Leppard.

So what will happen then? Well, I’ll tell you: the giant rock festivals will go with them. Oh, there will still be outdoor music events. Package bills, as in the days of yore, but consisting of multiple co-headliners, spread across a multitude of stages and internet sites. But there will never again be nearly 120,000 people all marching on the same hill at the same time as there were for Maiden at Donington in 1988.

I think he is right in his prediction....luckily enough though, most of us are getting too old for this as spectators anyway.....I gotta admit Download nearly crippled me last year so I dunno if I would be up to another day or weekend like that. My days of catching flying cups of pi$$ are numbered - it's very sad for the younger fans coming through though :helpsos:

yes hes right, i think this is why it was so important for me to do download last year! i felt time was running out then. always having been a 'last minute ' person, ive tried to jam as much rock into the last couple of years as poss, knowing at the back of my mind, its not gonna go on forever. im gettin old, but all my fave bands are older!!!!
