Why is it that AC/DC forums are so poorly attended by fans? Granted the AC/DC fanclub forum (a.k.a. dirty dungeon of deadbeats done on the cheap) is a pay to enter service, and a poor one at that, flung up by people who didn't understand (or care) that forums need moderators like bands need bouncers. But why do fans generally overlook other forums?

Looking around at other groups forums, it is plain as day that AC/DC has the most abysmal attendance by fans of any other group. Fuck, even dead groups forums are busier than those for AC/DC. Van Halen have three massive forums - are they just more popular with fans? and I won't even mention the Metallica forums, maybe literacy amongst AC/DC fans is in short supply, maybe they can't get past even the registration process?

WTF gives people?

"Dull" is a bit of an understatement.....try "dead".....

This is my opinion hanger...

There is the aspect that DC aren't touring, but even when they were, you couldn't say forums were buzzing. No, I think it is down to several reasons. AC/DC's typical fanbase are demographically older than your average forum-goers tend to be, also, AC/DC are at the end of their shelf-life. Though I hate to say it, the perception is that AC/DC have already, or are about to retire. There's plenty of respect and all that, and much admiration, but they don't necessarily have the future of say a band like Metallica - so the conversion rate is relatively low. Also, if you look at AC/DC forums, you have to admit that there are a lot of 'odd' people and last year this cropped up in another forum - GNR I think, and the general consensus was that the people on AC/DC forums are a bit 'funny' - and to be fair, they do have a point.

So maybe there are a few reasons AC/DC forums don't take off as they should, and that is a shame considering AC/DC are the best rock'n'roll band in the world bar none. Another thing against DC is that they never got into the social thingy, there is no communication channel at all between the band and the fans. Even their own website appears to be kept in the dark about most things. I would have thought that is where their management should step up and beat the drums, send smoke signals, or do something, but they don't. It's a very odd, hands-off kind of style with no PR, maybe that's the way DC like it, you can't quantify this stuff, but maybe that's another negative marker.

heat, i think (once again) you have hit the nail on the head! i personally dont belong to any other bands forum, but have to admit that im slightly shocked that bands like Van halen have buzzin forums when IMO they are nowhere near as great as DC. I would have to admit that im slightly odd (according to my mates) but im in no way illiterate !!!!! in the days of the last tour, the forums were great , altho i was disappointed by the lack of input from the brits, it was very much dominated by the u.s whose sense of humour is completely different. Nowadays, i just dont have as much time to come on, but im still in love with them as much as ever! ( for gods sake i see them tattooed on my foot in the bath every night!!!!) but yeh! at the end of the day im disappointed in the interest yeh!

You are the exception Melt, everyone here is a diehard, all of us fans for over 30 years....that's a lot of years and a lot of loyalty. Nearly every fan I've met are loyal to the core, shame they aren't into forums though ....and that's another point, lots of people have moved onto Twitter and Facebook.
