AC/DC honored with 'Band Of The Year' Award

AC/DC were honored with ‘Band Of The Year’ Award at tonight's sixth annual Classic Rock Roll Of Honour Awards which were held at the Roadhouse Venue in London. AC/DC were up for two awards, that of ‘Band Of The Year’ and ‘Reissue Of The Year’. AC/DC's Brian Johnson sent a video message from Australia for the group's band of the year accolade: "We never take any of this for granted," he told the audience. "Have a drink on us."

Competition for ‘Band Of The Year’ comprised Aerosmith, RATM, Kiss, Bon Jovi, Slash & Friends and the Jeff Beck Band.

‘Reissue Of The Year’ nominees included: Rolling Stones - 'Exile On Main St', Judas Priest - 'British Steel', The Beatles - 'Reissues', Black Sabbath - 'The Dio Years', Jimi Hendrix - 'Reissues', Nazareth - 'Reissues', King Crimson - 'In The Court Of The Crimson King', Where the Action Is: 'La Nuggets 1965-1968' and David Bowie - 'Station To Station'. The award was won by The Rolling Stones.

According to Pollstar, AC/DC lead 2010 in ticket sales with 1,820,962 sales followed in second place by Bon Jovi (1,368,734). AC/DC recently picked up a Billboard Touring Award for Top Boxscore for its ANZ Stadium gigs in Sydney on Feb. 18,20,22.

AC/DC’s Black Ice Tour took in 29 countries across four continents over more than 20 months with 168 performances of which 5,000,000 fans attended! It is also the second highest grossing tour in history.
