Happy Birthday Bon Scott!
Loveable Rogue, hellraiser and self-proclaimed and unmistakeable poet with the band – today marks the day when Bon Scott would have been 65!
Bon Scott was born on this day in 1946 and raised in Kirriemuir, Scotland 'till the age of six. He immigrated to Melbourne, Australia in 1952 along with the rest of his family, eventually settling in Fremantle near Perth.
Bon was a member of several bands before joining AC/DC in 1974 and was frontman for AC/DC for six years until he met his untimely death in 1980. Scott earned himself number one in a list of the "100 Greatest Frontmen Of All Time" ahead of Freddie Mercury and Robert Plant in the July 2004 issue of Classic Rock.
Along with the rest of AC/DC, Bon Scott was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003 represented by members of his family.
Whilst the wildman of Rock 'n' Roll may not be here to celebrate, fans from around the globe are gathering at places ranging from his birthplace in Scotland, to where he grew up in Australia - and marking the occasion with plays, tributes and festivities.
