"Let There Be Rock" DVD to be released in January 2011

"Let There Be Rock", the AC/DC concert documentary that was filmed December 1979 at the Pavillon De Paris, will receive its long-awaited DVD release in January 2011. Eddie Trunk, the co-host of the VH1 Classic television program "That Metal Show", was interviewed about the band's impact for one of the DVD's bonus features.

He writes on his blog, "[The company which is releasing the DVD is] doing some cleanups to the audio and video and making it as high-def as the source will allow." He adds, "I can tell you I have an advance and it looks and sounds great, but they are making it even better!"

Eddie Trunk made this announcement on his website without realizing that it was meant to be a secret. For those outside the US who may not have heard of Eddie Trunk - as a reliable source, this is about as good as it gets.

I saw that last concert in Phila. 1979 in August .They opened for Ted Nugent. I was right in front, and when AC/DC came on that stage, they were awesome. Bon had the greatest voice ever, and I never saw anybody play guitar like Angus! I did’nt even care if Ted Nugent came on after listening to them.Best concert ever, and I remember Angus doing a striptease, and mooning us all, I don’t think he has ever done that again that I know of. They will always be my favorite band. Luv you all!

I’m extremely thrilled about this news! I have been surviving on my VHS to DVD copy for decades. The copy of the soundtrack that came with *I think* bonfire was welcome. The entire package re-mastered for High Definition and Dolby is even MORE welcome!

Been waiting for this release since VHS won over Betamax … IMO the best concert experience ever captured – intense, and not even the sometimes goofy chat and led zep-esque ‘music video’ interruptions can change that. Rock’n roll as it should be.

Now, what’s the latest news on the release? My birthday is january 10th, and I have a feeling it won’t be in the shops ’til then …

Totally agree! They need to hurry the release along now. Kudos to Eddie Trunk for accidentally letting it slip…and keeping our hopes alive! btw, Happy Birthday for the 10th.

        Thanks, mate :)
I’m really curious if they’ll let the concert run trhu without the interruptions – and if there are missing fotage, extras etc! My VHS-to-DVD copy is as good as my VHS, but I have feeling this release’ll be in a different league :)
No mention of the ‘jan 2011′ release since last March – and total silence on acdc.com, as far as I can tell …
Well, have a great New Year! – and let’s hope for a speedy release (I have to show this to the kids, being a good dad and all) :)

Have the original VHS tape I bought when I was a kid ( talkin in the 20′s ) when it hit the market…

Some say lets bring those raw sounding recordings to VINYL again..

    And I agree with them 100 %..

Vinyl is coming back with a vengeance for the warmth and the passion that came through that little needle scrappin that disc that digital can NEVER replicate….. Ever
